Christians have their own Ten Commandments. Essential oil advocates have theirs. The Polish Aromatherapy Society has compiled a list of 10 essential tips for anyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy and the healing properties of natural essential oils.
Step 1: use the oils and essential oil blends whose scent you like the most and that suits you best.
Secondly: when preparing a mixture, do not compose it with more than 5 essential oils, because each extract already contains a large palette of valuable ingredients.
Step 3: Use only the recommended doses
of oils . Do not use larger doses than indicated. For an aromatherapy burner, this is usually 5-10 drops, for a bathtub, 10-15 drops, and for a body massage, 15-30 drops of oil diluted in 50 ml of vegetable oil are recommended.
Number 4: Do not take essential oils orally unless specifically instructed to do so on the label.
Step 5: Always dilute oils when applying them directly to the skin. Before massage, dissolve them in a carrier. This is usually a natural vegetable oil.
Step 6: Before your first aromatherapy treatment with an essential oil, do a 12-hour allergy test. Dilute a drop of essential oil or other blend in a teaspoon of vegetable oil. Then, rub it into the skin behind your ear or on your breastbone. You can use the oil if no redness, burning, or itching occurs within 12 hours.
7th: Don't add aromatherapeutic foaming bath products to your bath. Soak in the water for at least fifteen minutes and relax.
Number 8: Be aware of general contraindications, which should always be listed on the label. Pregnant women, children, and those allergic to any of the oil's ingredients should exercise particular caution. Avoid exposing your skin to UV radiation.
