Technologically advanced aromas, or techniques for obtaining scents
The development of increasingly sophisticated methods of scent extraction is awe-inspiring. It's not just about giving new meanings to familiar scents, but also about discovering those that were previously elusive. Head Space Technology This technique allows for the precise analysis and synthetic replication of almost any scent. A glass balloon configured with a computer is placed over a fruit or plant. The balloon captures odor molecules, which the computer recognizes and describes. The acquired data allows for the replication of the scent in the laboratory. This method is particularly favored by perfume manufacturers, who strive to outdo each other in releasing increasingly original scents. One men's perfume is said to "smuggle" the distinctive aroma of a New York tobacconist, while another replicates the scent of financial periodicals. Soft extraction process This technology was previously used in the food industry. Now it's catching on among perfumers. A special form of carbon dioxide is passed through an object, such as coffee beans. This way, food technologists extracted the aroma of coffee. Currently, this process is being used to capture the scents of flowers, which are resistant to more traditional aroma extraction techniques.
