In Lithuania, they are promoting a fragrance that is to become one of the symbols of the country.
The scent of Lithuania embodies the best qualities of the Lithuanian people. It's a combination of elements that evoke associations with this country. Burnt wood, moss, and wildflowers evoke pagan rites. The aroma of sandalwood highlights the fact that Lithuanian is an Indo-European language. Cedarwood symbolizes perseverance and strength, and the scent of musk instills the self-confidence that Lithuanians have always lacked.
"Lithuania's symbols, such as the coat of arms, anthem, and flag, can be seen, heard, and touched, but not smelled. So we decided to create yet another symbol," said Mindaugas Stongvilas, the perfume expert who developed the concept.
Lithuanian diplomatic missions abroad, hotels, airports, stands at international fairs and other representative places of the country are to be filled with the aroma of Lithuania.
The idea was to create four fragrance lines : one for women, one for men, one for water, and one for earth. The earth bottles were intended for room freshening. They were initially presented as gifts to the country's president and ambassadors visiting Lithuania. The perfumes were produced at the French Galimard factory.
