- A few simple tips to improve your sense of smell
Connect with your nose and improve your sense of smell. Start with the simplest thing – pay more attention to the scents that surround you in your daily life.
Before your first sip, take a deep breath of the coffee or tea you've brewed. Notice the sharp, minty scent of your toothpaste. Notice outdoor scents, like freshly cut grass or wet leaves. These simple and undemanding activities will increase your awareness of scents.
Smells you like will be helpful
Engage your
olfactory receptors by selecting a few scents you enjoy. Take time to smell them every day. It's better to take several gentle breaths than one deep one. To "reset" your nose, sniff the skin on your wrist or hand. Enhance your olfactory memory by visualizing aromas before and after smelling them. Change scents regularly. This will enhance your ability to identify the characteristics of scents.
Physical exercise and improving your sense of smell
Research suggests that our sense of smell improves after physical exercise. Maximize this ability after a workout at the gym by testing out a few perfume samples. It's believed that at least one exercise session per week helps reduce the risk of losing your sense of smell as you age.
