Enjoy the abundance of basil
You probably associate basil with a slightly spicy, sweet flavor and aroma. You probably use it as an ingredient in Italian dishes. But did you know that basil has countless medicinal properties? Basil is an annual plant in the mint family. Native to South Asia and Africa, it is cultivated in 150 varieties almost worldwide. It arrived in Europe in the mid-16th century. In Poland, common basil is the most popular. In India, it is considered a sacred plant.

Medicinal properties of basil

Basil is rich in healing properties. Basil:
  • supports the functioning of the digestive system,
  • improves digestion and facilitates the absorption of food,
  • has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties,
  • stimulates the secretion of gastric juice, which is why it is used as a natural medicine for indigestion and flatulence,
  • supports kidney cleansing,
  • it is used as a remedy against vomiting and nausea,
  • supports the functioning of the nervous system,
  • works similarly to lemon balm – antidepressant, improves mood and adds strength,
  • reduces hyperactivity,
  • fights insomnia,
  • has antipyretic properties,
  • Chewing fresh basil improves appetite.

A natural oil is obtained from the flowering tops and leaves of basil, which:
  • strengthens the heart and resistance to infections,
