Le Grand Musee du Parfum opened its doors to visitors
Although our sense of smell is one of the most important ways we connect with the outside world, it still holds many secrets. The French decided to explore these mysteries of smell in a museum dedicated to the perfume industry. La Grand Musee du Parfum – the world's first attraction dedicated exclusively to fragrance – is located in none other than the perfume capital of Paris. The museum is located in the heart of Paris's Golden Triangle, in a 19th-century mansion that once housed Christian Lacroix himself. Guests can embark on a multi-sensory journey through the history of perfume. Their visit to the museum is enhanced by cutting-edge technical solutions in graphics, sound, and olfactory installations. The olfactory journey begins in ancient Egypt, where the first fragrance ever created by man was created. Kyphi was a sharp, woody aroma used to invoke the gods. Guests are then guided through scents from various eras to the 20th century. The journey concludes in Paris, the center of perfume and fragrance. Interactive installations were designed to allow tourists to smell 25 iconic fragrances that served as bases for perfumers' compositions. These include rose absolute, orange blossom, and patchouli. Trumpet-shaped diffusers emit scents such as smoke, cinnamon, and even Coca-Cola.
