- Smell like a comet? Yes, it's possible.
Perfume manufacturers never cease to surprise. After perfumes for book lovers, food lovers, and playdough lovers, it's now the turn of space enthusiasts. Now they can spray themselves with the "aromatic" scent of a comet.
Perfumers from a British company specializing in scent marketing technology have created a fragrance modeled after the Churyumov-Gerasimenko
comet . The fragrance was commissioned by the European Space Agency, which studied the object 67 P in 2014. At that time, the Philae lander managed to collect 80% of the material.
Chemical analysis of the comet's data was enough to create a unique perfume. Samples were distributed at
the Royal Society's summer exhibition.
It might seem like the idea of a cosmic perfume is intriguing. After all, it must smell as befits a celestial body—heavenly. The truth is quite different. This unusual scent is an explosive mix—notes of cat urine combined with bitter almonds and rotten eggs. All thanks to the comet's chemical composition.
These perfumes probably won't become a sales hit, but the world belongs to the brave.
