Perfumes for book lovers

Perfumes for book lovers
The creators of Paper Passion perfume managed to capture the unique olfactory pleasure that comes from the scent of a freshly printed book. The perfume captures the distinctive scent of paper, ink, and glue that every book lover adores. The fragrance was designed by perfumer Geza Schoen, commissioned by Gerhard Steidl, a German publisher. To create the perfect book scent, Schoen spent time at the publishing house's headquarters in Göttingen, seeking inspiration. He sniffed samples of books, paper, and ink. It took Schoen 17 attempts before he achieved the perfect balance between the scent of paper and the pleasant aesthetic of perfume . What are book-scented perfumes made of? The initial pages of the book packaging correspond to:
  • methyl and ethyl linoleate – the base of the entire fragrance,
  • amber extreme and trisamber – responsible for the smell of paper,
  • copaiba tree oil – amber-herbal aroma,
  • cresyl acetate – gives a technical and medical character to perfumes,
  • osmanthus absolute,
  • ozone accents.
The idea for Paper Passion was born in 1997. At that time, Karl Lagerfeld, the famous fashion designer, asked Steidel to print information books about the new fragrance being launched. The scented bottle embodies the sensuality of books and the quiet scent of paper , as Lagerfeld put it. The perfume is packaged in a real, hollow book. The perfume is quite long-lasting. The aroma lasts for up to 7 hours.
