Lemon and yuzu
Yuzu is a small, slightly wrinkled yellow fruit, most commonly cultivated in East Asia. A recent discovery by Japanese scientists has confirmed that the aroma of yuzu can provide relief from stress and anxiety. It lowers the heart rate in just 10 minutes, and the effect lasts up to half an hour. Since the 18th century, the Japanese have been bathing in hot yuzu vapors to relieve stress. It's worth following their example. And if yuzu isn't readily available, you can purchase a more readily available citrus fruit, namely lemon. It has also been proven to have a beneficial effect on normalizing heart function.
Bergamot
Bergamot is a hybrid of orange, lemon, and lime. Traditionally used in Italian folk medicine, numerous contemporary studies support its ability to relieve tension and anxiety. Five of six clinical studies conducted between 2009 and 2013 showed that aromatherapy with bergamot essential oil normalized heart rate, reduced blood pressure, and reduced stress levels.
