- Is the smell of bacon more attractive than the smell of a newborn?
Men prefer the smell of petrol and frying bacon to the smell of a newborn baby, a British survey reports.
The survey was conducted by OnePoll, a company specializing in gathering and researching market information. 4,000 Britons participated in the survey.
Men's preferences
The smell of a newborn baby was ranked only 18th, bacon 7th, and gasoline 12th.
Top of the list is fresh bread, ahead of clean sheets and freshly cut grass.
Fish and chips, baked goods, fresh coffee and the smell of refreshing air after the rain also made the list.
The men's top list of 20 scents is complemented by: lavender, apple and the scent of baking blackberry cake with crumble and a freshly lit match.
8 out of 10 men confirm that scents cheer them up.
Almost half of men admit that they use fragrances at home to help them relax or create a desired atmosphere.
94% of them say that they attach great importance to whether their home smells nice.
Women's tastes
The women chose bread, grass and clean linen, followed by fresh flowers, vanilla as their favorite, freshly ground coffee and falling rain on.
The women's top 10 was rounded out by chocolate, children and lavender.
Women rated vomit, body odor, and public restroom odors as the worst. Meanwhile, trash cans, wet dogs, cigarettes, and smelly feet topped the list.
9 out of 10 women believe that a nice scent can change their mood.
Additionally, 92% of women say that fragrances make them happy.
Fragrances according to the British
Britons cited memories of a happy childhood as triggering pleasant smells, as well as delicious food and a wonderful feeling of being at home.
While women say certain scents make them smile because they are cozy or remind them of someone they love, men prefer exciting and
refreshing aromas .
A survey revealed that the scent of aftershave brings a smile to the faces of 8 out of 10 passersby.
Nearly 2/3 of respondents would not dare to tell a friend that they smell bad.
Christmas pine needles, a bonfire and cinnamon turned out to be the scents that Britons associate with winter.
