- The smell of real books in your Kindle
A treat for all lovers of paper books who cannot give up their smell.
If you haven't yet warmed up to e-readers, perhaps a new scented device will convince you to do so.
It's fascinating how technology has transformed the way we read books. The more we read eBooks, the more we miss the good old smell of printed books. That balanced blend of ink and paper is more than just a common scent. It's a memory. This most coveted element of book-reading evokes the happiest moments of childhood.
Amazon, in collaboration with DuroSport (the manufacturer of book-scented e-book spray), has created a scented Kindle. The built-in diffuser releases the scent of ink and paper. Russ Grandinetti, vice president of Kindle, explains that the built-in technology creates a library-like experience.
Amazon estimates the average battery life to be 3 hours before recharging. However, Grandinetti is confident that anyone who is positively obsessed with the smell of books won't notice this drawback.
